Open Access Policy
UJ Press is committed to the principle of making scholarly research freely available to the global community. We believe that open access accelerates scientific progress and promotes a wider dissemination of knowledge.
Therefore, UJ Press publishes most of its titles under an open access model. This means that all titles are immediately available upon publication without any fees or barriers to access. Readers are free to:
- Read
- Download
- Copy
- Distribute
- Search
- Link to the full text of titles or chapters
This permission is granted under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, which allows for non-commercial reuse and distribution of the material with proper attribution to the authors and the journal.
We believe that open access publication fosters:
- Increased citation rates for titles
- Broader public engagement with research
- Enhanced collaboration among researchers worldwide
Use of DOI
Each title and chapter of edited volumes are allocated a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) as part of the metadata. This DOI should be cited as part of the title or chapter citation.
Author Self-Archiving
Authors are encouraged to deposit the final published version of their chapters in their institutional repositories or on their personal websites.
For any questions regarding our open access policy, please don't hesitate to contact the Press Manager.
Book Processing Charges (BPCs)
This press charges Book Processing Charges per manuscript. Included in this cost is the language editing, page layout and design, production and design and marketing and distribution for each title.
UJ Press is committed to running the press as cost-effectively as possible. To this end, none of the Discipline Editors are paid for the work they do. None of the reviewers are paid for the reviews they do. The cost savings made are passed on to the authors.
Waiver Policy
Researchers who do not have funding available may request a reduction of BPCs by making contact with the Press Manager. The press will assist in finding suitable funding or waive the book processing charges. Note that the availability of funding will never be the basis for the publishing decision.
